“The Legislature will need proven leaders as it grapples with COVID-19 budget fallout and criminal justice reform.” – The Tacoma News Tribune

Joy will fight to rebuild our economy to work for everyone by:

  • Reducing the cost of prescription drugs and limiting out-of-pocket expenses on all health insurance programs

  • Expanding access to rural health care and protecting coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, including those who test positive for the corona virus

  • Investing in medical supply manufacturing her in the Puget Sound region to grow good-paying, local manufacturing jobs and ensure we have the health supplies we need

  • Creating a career and technical education diploma for Washington state high schools to provide alternate pathways to traditional high school graduation

Joy knows the importance of having a strong and collective response as we recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19. As a member of a working family Joy understands the unique needs of the 26th Legislative District. A strong recovery post-COVID means ensuring income equality, strong support for small business owners and employees, high quality education, as well as affordable and accessible housing and healthcare.

Joy will work to ensure everyone has a fair shot at economic security. Many families have expressed the feeling of being nickel and dimed by our current tax codes, Joy will work to make sure wealthy corporations and the top 1% are paying their fair share so that families and schools have the economic support they need.

Joy has spent time during the pandemic talking with our local small business owners, educators, and families about their economic challenges. Many of these small business owners have expressed great financial strain, huge losses, and difficulties around navigating complex systems to seek government-funded financial relief. We must do better for our community, from supporting working-class families to the small business owner Joy will fight to make your voice heard in Olympia.
